Who can join Synapse Chat?

Who Synapse Chat is for

Synapse Chat is a closed network for verified Australian clinical professionals. Membership is intentionally restricted, because a verified-only network is what makes it safe to assume the colleague you are messaging is genuine.

Eligible members

There are two main paths to membership.

AHPRA-registered practitioners

If you hold current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), for example as a doctor, nurse, or allied health professional, you are eligible to apply. Your registration is part of how we confirm you are a practising clinician.

Sponsored verification for eligible support staff

Some people who work closely with verified practitioners are not themselves AHPRA-registered, for example certain practice or administrative staff who support clinical coordination. Eligible staff in this group may join through sponsored verification, where an existing verified practitioner vouches for them and takes responsibility for that relationship.

How verification works at a high level

Every application is reviewed by a human before access is granted. We confirm your identity and your eligibility before you can see or message anyone in the network. This review takes time by design. It is what keeps the network trustworthy.

We are still finalising the exact onboarding steps. This article describes who is eligible, not the step-by-step signup flow. When the flow is confirmed we will publish a detailed walkthrough.

What we ask of every member

Membership comes with a shared responsibility: communicate about cases using de-identified references only, and never send information that could identify a patient. See De-identified by default.
