Secure messaging for medical specialists
A verified network where specialists can field questions from referrers and coordinate with the wider team around a shared episode of care.
Specialists sit at the receiving end of a constant stream of informal contact: a GP wanting to know whether something warrants a referral, a registrar checking a detail before a clinic, an allied health colleague asking about appropriate next steps. Handling that well is part of being a good colleague, but doing it over personal phone numbers and consumer apps blurs the line between private life and professional availability, and offers no assurance about who is actually on the other end.
Synapse Chat puts that contact inside a network where every participant's registration has been reviewed before they could join. For a specialist, that means a question arriving from a "referring GP" comes from an account that has actually been checked, and replies go to a verified colleague rather than an unconfirmed number. It also keeps professional contact separable from a personal mobile, so availability is a choice rather than a consequence of having handed out a number years ago.
The model suits the way specialist input is usually sought: briefly, in context, ahead of a more formal letter or report. A short exchange can clarify whether a referral is needed or what information to include, reducing incomplete referrals without becoming the place where the formal record lives. The service is Australian-hosted, keeping this everyday contact on local infrastructure.
Specialists carry particular responsibility for keeping these exchanges de-identified, because the questions they field often arrive with identifying detail attached. Strip it back to the clinical context and discuss the situation rather than the person; the identifiable record belongs in the referral and the specialist's own system, not in a messaging thread. Used that way, Synapse Chat makes specialists more reachable to the colleagues who need them, without the identity and privacy uncertainty of ordinary chat apps.
Verified practitioners only
Membership is for verified Australian clinical professionals. AHPRA registration is checked, so the people you reach are real, registered colleagues.
Encrypted, Australian-hosted
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest on Australian infrastructure. Synapse holds the keys to meet legal-hold obligations, so it is not end-to-end encrypted, and we do not routinely scan messages.
De-identified by practice
Synapse Chat is for clinician-to-clinician coordination, not a record system. Keep messages de-identified: discuss the context, not the person.
